J.E. Anderson & Associates (JEA) is an industry leading land development consulting firm that provides a full suite of legal surveying and civil engineering services. JEA has been serving Vancouver Island and the surrounding area since 1959, with offices in Victoria, Nanaimo, Parksville, and Campbell River. Our clients span a variety of sectors, and include individual property owners, developers and construction companies, businesses, and all levels of government. Our projects range from surveys of individual properties to some of the largest and most complex residential, industrial, and commercial development and land use projects on Vancouver Island.  

Our Victoria office is seeking a Junior Civil Engineering tech to join our team of engineering and surveying professionals. Candidates with a diploma in civil engineering technology, or comparable education, and experience using autoCAD and/or Civil3D are preferred.

Key job activities:

• Civil design, drafting, and calculations work using Civil 3D.  
• Assisting with the development of plans and reports. 
• Site reviews/inspections and construction support.
• Project coordination and client relationship development and management
• Working as a member of a team, including engineers, surveyors, other technicians and technologists, and field crews.

Role requirements:

• Working under the guidance of JEA's professional engineers, senior techs and project managers.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D/AutoCAD software.
• A working understanding of civil engineering design and infrastructure projects including water and wastewater systems, storm water and drainage infrastructure, sanitation systems, and road design.
• A strong understanding of engineering principles, practices, and standards.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with project managers, colleagues, and clients.
• The ability to problem solve, make decisions, and prioritize tasks
• Valid drivers license.

Job details:

• Approximately 40 hours a week with flexible start/finish times within standard working hours.
• This position requires in person attendance.
• Wage range is $25-30/hour based on experience.
